Just as a plant requires certain light to grow, our bodies require certain light for proper functioning.

*~Seasonal Affective Disorder~*
*~SAD~*

Seasonal Affective Disorder (or SAD) is a clinically diagnosed
condition in which the lack of sunlight in winter literally makes
people ill. SAD affects 10 to 12 million people in the United
States and millions more around the world.

Many people are improperly diagnosed and prescribed a drug for
depression. Others use medication to fight a depression that can be easily remedied by "Smart Indoor Tanning".

It has only been in recent years that the medical profession has
diagnosed this winter depression as a treatable disorder. The
treatment is simple --- light therapy ( HELIOTHERAPY ).

Seasonal Affective Disorder is caused by a biochemical imbalance in the hypothalamus due
to the shortening of daylight hours and the lack of sunlight in the winter.

Light waves in the visible and infrared range are good for
our bodies. When our bodies are  deprived of sunlight or decreased
exposure to sunlight during the winter months, many people develop
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Think you have "Cabin Fever"?  In all actuality you could be suffering from SAD.

lasting until April, but are at their worst in the darkest months.

  • Sudden weight gain
  • Carbohydrate craving and increased appetite

Seasonal Affective Disorder How Indoor Tanning Can Help Seasonal Affective Disorder

Recent research is showing that moderate tanning can
provide health benefits.

When the days become shorter and the sun sinks lower in the winter months, many turn to artificial sources to lift their spirits. Here at All Seasons Tanning Salon our trained staff can help you get back, what your body lacks in the shorter days of the winter months, with the simple remedy of "Smart Indoor Tanning".  Let our trained staff help you choose a package that best fits your lifestyle and schedule.

HELIOTHERAPY: the use of sunlight or of an artificial source of
ultraviolet, visible, or infrared radiation for therapeutic purposes.

The Positive Effects of the Sun
While overexposure to the sun and burning are bad for you,
medical studies demonstrate that, in moderation, exposure to
sunlight is crucial for the maintenance of good physical and
psychological health. Besides making you feel good about how
you look, numerous studies indicate that little to no exposure to
the sun may be equally as, if not worse, to your overall health as
too much sun.

Is heliotherapy as effective as the more researched light therapy?  It is essentially the same thing, instead of sitting in front of a lot of lights, indoor tanning blankets the whole body in a bed surrounding it with light ... and warmth.

SAD, or seasonal affective disorder, first came to public
awareness shortly after research done in 1979.  It was published by
the National Institute of Mental Health and the Archives of General
Psychiatry Journal.
